RUNYON CANYON UPGRADE
Runyon Canyon is getting an upgrade! After extensive outreach and collaboration with local stakeholders, the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) Board approved a project to install a permanent restroom in Runyon Canyon Park. This new facility is necessitated under RAP’s standards for park service levels and will serve to ensure Runyon Canyon remains safe, clean, accessible, and enjoyable for Angelenos and visitors alike!
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A permanent, 2-stall, pre-fabricated restroom is being installed in Runyon Canyon to help serve the approximately 2 million people who visit annually. This is a long-needed improvement for one of L.A.’s most beloved parks.
CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE
Staging is set to begin on 1/12/26 with construction starting 2-3 days after. The contractor will begin with preparing the foundation and utilities (sewer, water, electrical) for the building prior to the restroom being delivered. The total construction timeline is approximately 15 weeks.
CONSTRUCTION HOURS
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
POSSIBLE IMPACTS TO PARK USAGE
A pedestrian pathway will remain accessible throughout construction at the Fuller Ave. entrance with temporary fencing in place. The southern portion of the grass area will be temporarily fenced off during construction.
During the actual restroom delivery in mid-late February, the Fuller Ave. entrance will be temporarily closed for several hours to allow for access for the delivery trailer and crane. We will notify the public as soon as this date is confirmed.
Construction noise is to be expected during working hours.
