Sunday Afternoon Update
Dear friend,
We are now in our 6th day of ongoing wildfire response, and I want to provide you with the latest emergency updates.
Stay alert: Mandatory evacuation orders and evacuation warnings
As of Sunday morning, a mandatory evacuation order *REMAINS IN PLACE* for the Palisades Fire from Mandeville Canyon to the 405, and from the neighborhoods north of the Encino Reservoir south to Sunset Blvd. This includes areas of Encino and Brentwood. Evacuation warnings are in place for some of the surrounding neighborhoods, including neighborhoods in Tarzana, Encino, and Sherman Oaks.
Residents in the mandatory evacuation areas should expect to be away from their homes for at least 72 hours – no one is able to enter the mandatory evacuation zones at this time.
None of these evacuation orders are made lightly. The Santa Ana winds are expected to pick up through Wednesday in Southern California’s mountain and foothill communities, with winds potentially gusting up to more than 75 mph in certain areas. While current fire management efforts have been effective, new winds can quickly shift the direction of the fire. Please support our firefighters and first responders in their work by heeding these orders.
Reissued Red Flag Warning through Wednesday
Red flag warnings have been reissued through Wednesday night. Residents should remain on high alert, as dynamic wind conditions can quickly shift existing fires, and fire risks will remain high across our city.
Security in Evacuation Areas
In mandatory evacuation and evacuation warning areas connected to the Palisades Fire, hundreds of LAPD officers, supplemented with the National Guard, have been deployed for maintaining curfews and safety in these neighborhoods. Curfews remain in place for areas under evacuation orders and warnings from 6 pm to 6 am.
Continued closures of parks and trails
At this time, ALL of our hillside parks remain closed at least through Wednesday. This includes Griffith Park, Lake Hollywood Park, Runyon Canyon, Wattles, the Hollywood Reservoir, Laurel Canyon Dog Park, Encino Reservoir, and all MRCA overlooks including the Mulholland overlooks, Fryman-Wilacre, and Trebek Open Space.
LADWP progress on restoring power
Thousands of residents across the city have faced frustrating delays in restoration of power during this emergency. For many days after the worst of the winds, even our team was unable to get information about progress on outages in our district. As of today, the number of households without power has come down significantly. As of 7AM Sunday, 367 households in Encino and 222 in Studio City continue to be without power. Overall, approximately 16,000 out of LADWP’s 1.5 million electric customers are without power—most of whom are in the fire-affected areas of Pacific Palisades and Brentwood. Crews cannot restore power until those areas have been declared safe to resume power restoration work. In total, crews have restored power to 362,482 customers since the start of the windstorm. We are grateful for the hard work of our crews.
Updated information about closures, power outages, safety tips, FEMA assistance, emergency loans, insurance, and available resources are available on our website HERE and are updated regularly.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to our office for additional assistance at contactcd4@lacity.org, or by calling us at 213-473-7004.
We are not through this emergency yet – these fires are very much an active situation and we ask that residents continue to take evacuation precautions and orders very seriously.
Stay Safe,

Roads
- Restricted access to the hills: to support first responders and ensure community safety, we strongly urge non-residents and non-essential workers to stay out of the hills where red flag warnings are in effect until further notice.
- ALL of our hillside parks remain closed until further notice. This includes Griffith Park, Lake Hollywood Park, Runyon Canyon, Wattles and theHollywood Reservoir, Laurel Canyon Dog Park, Encino Reservoir, and and all MRCA overlooks including the Mulholland overlooks, Fryman-Wilacre, and Trebek Open Space. Please stay out of these areas until this emergency subsides. This is essential to keep roads clear for our many residents who live alongside these popular destinations that also happen to be in Very High Fire Severity Zones.
- Red Flag Alert parking restrictions are in effect until 6PM Wednesday. To view affected parking areas, search for your neighborhood in this LAFD interactive map: Red Flag Parking Restrictions. Updates regarding the Red Flag Parking status can be found at https://ers.lafd.org/redflag/.
